The Admired Advisor Podcast

Oct 5, 2020

In this episode, Steve talks with Miye Wire, the founder and managing partner of Miye Wire, LLC, based in Reston, Virginia. Miye takes a team approach to simplifying client finances and builds relationships with clients in a way that makes advising less transactional.

Miye’s firm serves 250 families that are mostly made up of working professionals from Microsoft. Generally, her clients are in their busiest time of life with young kids and aging parents to take care of, which makes it imperative for her team to get to know their clients and their challenges on a deeper level.

Throughout this episode, Steve and Miye discuss how she empowers her team and how they take a proactive, personal approach to learning about and serving their clients. Miye also shares some creative ideas that enable them to get to know their clients and their families.

”The better you get to know your clients and the better your clients get to know you the stronger a relationship you can have even on the business side. And I feel like that goes both ways. It’s not just about us getting to know our clients better, which helps us do a better job in serving them. I think the more clients get to meet us and spend time with us, they sort of realize that everybody on our team is really passionate about what we do and we really, really care about our clients.” @Miye Wire LLC

Main Takeaways

  • Setting up your team to be seamless and integrated gives your clients a feeling of security.
  • Being open-minded about other people’s ideas not only gives you a resource for trying different things but helps unify the culture inside your firm.
  • Consider client events that are focused around recreation, not money. The better your personal relationships with clients, the easier managing their money will become. It also allows you to get to know their families.
  • Turning off from work and not answering emails and phone calls after hours is a great way to increase your focus during your working hours and avoid burnout.
